MYAN promotes youth involvement and empowerment in its daily operations and supports other organizations in taking this important step by facilitating regional support networks, coordinating an e-mail-based communication network and publishing e-newsletters in addition to a web page at www.myan.org. Staff provide regional trainings, technical assistance to youth groups and their adult coordinators and organizes the Annual Peer Leadership Conference attended by over 400 youth and adults statewide and the Stop, Quit Resist Anti-Tobacco Youth Summit attended by over 200 youth and adults. MYAN also supports youth engagement in School Based Health Centers in Maine and has spent this past year assisting the Department of Education in bringing two youth on to the state board of education.

MYAN is a program of the People's Regional Opportunity Program (PROP). Founded in 1965, PROP is the nonprofit, multi-service Community Action agency serving the people and communities of Cumberland County, Maine. Several PROP programs serve residents of York County as well and two programs (including MYAN) serve residents of the entire state.
