SHINE: Promoting Non-Violence and Cultural Harmony Among Teens
"SHiNE (Seeking Harmony In Neighborhoods Everyday) is a pro-social youth empowerment organization that uses outlets like music, art, technology and sports to engage and inspire young people to take a stand, use their voice and impact their world. The program is based on a peer-to-peer model, and is the youth component of the White House's National Campaign Against Youth Violence." 1996 article by Gary Walker and Marc Freedman, closely examining Big Brothers/Big Sisters and discussing mentoring programs in general.
